Paralympic gold medallist to give inspirational lecture
Posted 30 June 2014
A double Paralympic gold medallist and world champion archer is set to inspire during a special lecture on self-believe at Harper Adams University next month.
The talk given by Danielle Brown MBE is followed by a short archery demonstration, and will raise funds to help establish the university’s Archery Society, of which she is to become the first president.
She will also take part in a timed ‘shoot-out’ to demonstrate the skill of the sport and will be joined by first year student and keen archer, 18-year-old Jacob Vick from Evesham.
The event, on July 22 at 7pm, has been arranged by the Harper Adams Human Resources Department, with the aim of revealing the key to a successful life - self-belief, motivation, resilience and positive thinking.
Staff Development Officer, Nick Gallagher-Hughes, said: “This should prove to be an inspiring lecture and an exciting demonstration of archery.
“Danielle is a double Paralympic gold medal winner, three times world champion, Commonwealth Games gold medal winner and holder of 12 world records, so self-belief is something she knows an awful lot about!
“We are delighted to welcome her to the campus and proud that she has agreed to become the president of one of our newest student societies.”
The lecture is open to staff, students and the general public – but places are limited so booking tickets in advance is recommended. It is taking place in the recently completed Weston Building, with a nominal entrance fee of £4 which will go to the Archery Society.
